Mahanati Savitri

Nissankara Savitri, also known as Savitri Ganesan, was an iconic Indian actress and filmmaker, born on December 6, 1934, and passing away on December 26, 1981. She was a dominant character in Telugu and Tamil cinema and is regarded as one of the greatest actresses in Indian film history. She earned the titles Mahanati (The Great Actress) in Telugu and Nadigaiyar Thilagam (Doyen of all Actresses) in Tamil, reflecting her legendary status.

Savitri enjoyed immense popularity and was among the highest-paid and most in-demand actresses in South India during the 1950s and 1960s. Over the course of her 30-year career, she appeared in more than 250 films. Her breakthrough role came in 1952 with the film Pelli Chesi Choodu, and she went on to star in numerous successful films, including Devadasu -1953, Missamma - 1955, Ardhangi - 1955, Donga Ramudu - 1955, Thodi Kodallu - 1957, Mayabazar - 1957, Mangalya Balam - 1959, Aradhana - 1962, Gundamma Katha - 1962, Nartanasala - 1963, Doctor Chakravarty - 1964, Sumangali - 1965, and Devata - 1965.

In addition to her remarkable acting career, Savitri was widely admired for her charitable work and generosity, particularly towards the less fortunate. In recognition of her extraordinary contributions to Indian cinema, she was posthumously bestowed with the esteemed "A Moon Among Stars" award at the 30th International Film Festival of India in 1999. Her extraordinary life and legacy were further celebrated in the 2018 biographical film Mahanati, which went on to win the Equality in Cinema Award at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne.

Pawan Kalyan

Pawan Kalyan, whose real name is Konidela Kalyan Babu, was born on September 2nd, 1971. He is a famous Indian actor, politician, and social worker. He is currently serving as the 11th Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, a position he has held since June 2024. He is also the Minister for Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, Forests, Environment, Science and Technology in the government of Andhra Pradesh. Additionally, he is an elected Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) representing Pitapuram. Pawan Kalyan is the founder and president of the Janasena Party.

Kalyan is a well-known actor in Telugu cinema, famous for his unique style, mannerism and charm. He enjoys a massive fan following across the Telugu states, often described as "unfathomable" and "fiercely loyal." His fans treat him like a legend. Pawan Kalyan is one of the top-paid actors in Indian film industry and has been featured in Forbes India's Celebrity 100 list several times since 2012. He has won many awards, including a Filmfare Award and a SIIMA Award.

Pawan Kalyan began his acting career in 1996 with the movie Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi. He then delivered a series of hits like Tholi Prema (1998), Thammudu (1999), Badri (2000), and Kushi (2001). These films made him a youth icon, gaining him a large following that was separate from his elder brother, Chiranjeevi’s fans. In 2001, he became the first South Indian to represent Pepsi as its brand ambassador. Despite facing some failures later in his career, his popularity continued to grow. He made a strong comeback with the 2008 film Jalsa, which became the highest-grossing Telugu film of the year. He also starred in successful films like Gabbar Singh (2012), Attarintiki Daredi (2013), Gopala Gopala (2015), and Bheemla Nayak (2022). He won a Filmfare Award for Best Actor for Gabbar Singh. Kushi and Attarintiki Daredi were both records for the highest-grossing Telugu films at their time.

Pawan Kalyan holds a black belt in Karate and practices various martial arts. In 1997, he was given the title "Pawan" by the Isshin-ryū Karate Association after showcasing his skills in a public martial arts demonstration. He regularly shows his martial arts skills in his movies, both as a performer and as an action choreographer. His fans and the media often call him as the "Power Star."

Besides his acting career, Kalyan is also recognized for his charitable work. He has supported many social causes and offered financial help to individuals and organizations in need. In 2007, he started a charity called the Common Man Protection Force.

In 2014, Pawan Kalyan started the Janasena Party (JSP). Though he didn’t run in the 2014 elections himself, his support was very important in helping the TDP-BJP alliance win in Andhra Pradesh. He also highlighted the issue of kidney disease in Uddanam and organized protests against the forced acquisition of land and illegal mining in protected forests. In the 2019 elections, his party contested and won one MLA seat, getting about 6% of the total votes. Kalyan and JSP worked on important issues such as supporting farmers, ensuring women's safety, stopping illegal sand mining, and fighting against land encroachment. In 2023, Kalyan began a state-wide tour in his custom-built vehicle ‘Varahi’ to connect with voters. In the 2024 elections, he played a key role in forming an alliance between JSP, TDP, and BJP, which led to a massive victory. Janasena party won all 21 MLA seats and 2 MP seats that it contested. Kalyan was elected from the Pitapuram constituency with a lead of over 70,000 votes and was appointed as the Deputy Chief Minister.
